The Prelude:
It was one of those situations where you walk into the store and you look at someone/something and say “ I want that- P.E.R.I.O.D” In this particular case, I had gone into a local boutique and had seen a sales associate wearing this slightly oversized knitted sweater in a reddish orange colour It was love at first sight (you know, when a girl meets a…sweater…).
Before I continue, I want to give you a little idea about the state of mind I was in a that time: I was a relatively new working-mom to a baby who had an unfortunate affinity towards crying. In other words: I was extremely tired, high on emotions and stretched in a million different directions.
So, when I saw this sweater and how put together the sales associate looked (she had paired it with a leather skirt, black tights and booties), my thoughts just jumped to “I need that to be my life right now.” As you probably all expected, I bought the sweater…and the skirt and tights…her life was apparently sold separately.
Unlike many items that end up in the back of one’s closet, this sweater became my go-to sweater for everything: In the weekends I wore it with spandex; during the week, with whatever pants that were clean; and for meetings, with a skirt. Somehow, the combination of the colour and fit just made me feel great. To top it off, despite all of the times it was thrown in the wash (thanks to my son’s sticky fingers), it came out looking as good as new every time.
To this day, I still continue my love affair with my reddish orange sweater.
The Point:
Now, to the burning question: who designed the sweater? SET.
SET is a Munich-based fashion house founded in the 1950’s. They design for the “Modern urban woman”. This is a woman who they describe as edgy, flirtatious, and elegant. A woman who both laughs and cries, who works and is close to her family. A woman who experiences changes and challenges but always manages to power through. Essentially (and ironically), exactly how I felt when I wore that sweater (and all the other sweaters I have since bought from them).
Producing high-quality knits is something they are passionate about at SET. Starting with the yarn, SET works with traditional family-run businesses in Europe (mainly in Italy), each of whom specialises in one of the stages of knitwear production. This results in the best possible quality paired with excellent styling and fit.
Below are some of my favourite SET sweaters that are to die for and on the top of my wish list.
P.S I added some coats because they are also to die for....
Happy trotting,
