Comfortably Presentable: Sweater edition

The Prelude:

I am told that I have a problem. Well, actually I am told that I have many problems. However, this particular one has followed me across continents and life phases. So, here it goes:

Apparently, I am accused of “stealing” other people’s sweaters. I find this terminology to be a bit harsh and would rather call it “borrowing over a long or indefinite period of time.” It is also not all sweaters from all people that I borrow. It’s only certain oversized sweaters (or sweatshirts) that belong to those who are near and dear to me.

I am not sure when it happened for the first time, but my guess is that it was when I was quite young and with a sweater that ‘belonged’ to my mom. The warmth and love that came with wearing it was just what I needed after those long or ‘blah’ days.

While my mom’s sweaters still fall prey to my sticky fingers, it is now my husband’s sweaters that I find irresistible as I change into my ‘loungewear’ for the evening. *

*Full disclosure: this is what I tell people, so they won’t judge me. In reality it’s whenever I am at home and given the current COVID-19 situation, its more or less all the time.

At first, I think he found it endearing (that’s at least what I tell myself), but as his favorite sweater slowly started to find its way into my closet, he started to ask all sorts of ridiculous questions: “why don’t you get your own?” The situation escalated to the point where he even went so far as to try and cheat “the system.” He bought a sweater for “himself” that he thought I would like, and didn’t like himself, hoping that I would take it. Well, news flash, I didn’t like that sweater. So now he has a sweatshirt hanging in the closet that none of us likes.

The system is there for a reason; don't cheat it.

The Point:

PROBLEM: Fall is here, and winter is steadily on its way. In my mind this means snuggling up in that warm cozy sweater. At the same time, working from home doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon and apparently wearing sweatshirts is not appropriate workwear. FML.

SOLUTION: As you all obviously read the story/post on my journey to finding clothes that are “comfortably presentable” I thought I would create a new comfortably presentable list on sweaters for A/W 2020. ….And because work, COVID-19 and the fact that clogs are going to be trendy in 2021 are putting a damper on life, I thought that I would also add a few sweaters that would put a smile on your face while still being appropriate to wear in front of your boss.

Happy trotting,
